Linnea Lakin-Servey
Candidate for Lancaster's Select Board
I am pleased to share with my friends and neighbors that I'm a candidate for Select Board in Lancaster, Massachusetts. I would be honored to receive your vote on May 12th, 2025!
About Me
I’m proud to call Lancaster home. As a fourth-generation resident, I’ve spent most of my life here, and my deep roots in this town run even deeper through my three children — the fifth generation — who attended our local schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. They received a strong, well-rounded education that helped set them up for future success.
Over the years, I’ve been actively involved in our community in many ways:
I supported the expansion of the Nashoba Regional School District to include K–8 education, helping to better align the curriculum and promote educational equity across all three member towns.
I served as a volunteer in our schools, including on the School Councils for both the Middle School and Nashoba Regional High School in the late 1990s.
I led the successful effort to adopt the Community Preservation Act (CPA) in Lancaster, allowing us to set aside dedicated funds for historic preservation, open space/recreation, and affordable housing — all priorities that often go unfunded in the regular municipal budget. Adopting the Community Preservation Act allowed Lancaster to receive $128,000 of state matching funds over the last three years.
I served as Chair of the Community Preservation Committee for three years, helping to build the committee from the ground up and see projects through to completion.
I’ve supported youth programs in town by running a summer soccer camp for seven years, chaperoning the after-school ski program, creating costumes for Nashoba Drama Society productions for a decade, and assisting with local 4-H horse shows.
I currently serve as Treasurer of the Lancaster Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to promoting and preserving our town’s rich history.
My commitment to Lancaster is lifelong and ongoing, and I believe strongly in giving back to the town that’s given so much to my family and me.
My Vision for Lancaster
With over 30 years of experience in local government, I’ve dedicated myself to helping make Lancaster the best place to call home — and I believe we have an opportunity to do even more.
Now retired from a career in finance spanning both large and small businesses, I have the time and energy to fully engage in serving our community. I believe it’s time to focus on smart, forward-thinking solutions that respect both our present needs and our future goals.
Let’s maximize our resources and use taxpayer dollars as wisely as possible.
No more solving today’s problems at the expense of tomorrow — we need a sustainable, long-term approach.
Let’s create a five-year financial plan that sets clear priorities and helps guide responsible decision-making.
We must recognize and support the hard work of our Town Staff and our many citizen volunteers.
Let’s empower these individuals to collaborate, innovate, and solve problems together in a supportive, respectful atmosphere.
And when we take on challenges, let’s do it with clear project plans that lead to real, achievable results.
Lancaster has a strong foundation — and by working together, we can build an even brighter future.
